2 Saloon Rating (CCMC) 6 Months Between 17.5 to 25 years. SC/ST 30 years) Pass in 2-Year I.T.I. course from Govt. Approved Institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks in final year and minimum 40% marks in English at 10th or 12th or diploma / degree exam. Boys and Girls can apply Written/Personal interview/Medical Examination Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight 6/6 in better eye, 6/9 in other eye and with no colour blindness After successful completion of pre sea training as a certificate course in marine catering (C.C.M.C.). The Candidates will be able to join as a Steward in Indian and Foreign Shipping Companies can work in saloon (catering) department. With Further Sea-Service they will be promoted, Asst. 3 Orientation Course for Catering personnel (OCCP) 1 Month Between 17.5 to 25 years. 4 B.Sc. Marine Catering 25 years SC/ST 30 Years) Pass in 12th Standard with 50% aggregate (in any group) 50% of Mark in English subject in 10th Standard or 12th Standard Boys and Girls can apply This industry is ever growing and has vast opportunities thrown open for the candidates of Degree and Diploma as below Shipping and Cruise Lines, Hotels, Restaurants, Motels, Resorts, Corporate Guest Houses, Industrial Canteens, Railway, Airlines and Hospitals. 5 Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) Leading to B.Sc. Nautical Science 1 Year Between 17.5 to 25 years.(SC/ST 30 years) (a ) Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% OR (b ) B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year. OR (c ) B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year. After Passing, they will be joining as navigational / watch keeping officer as second mate on board a ship. With further Sea Service, they will be promoted to Chief Officer and then Master / Captain of the ship by cleared MMD exam DG Shipping Govt. India.
6 B.Sc. 7 B. Tech Marine 4 Years Between 17.5 to 25 years.(SC/ST 30 years) (a) Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% OR (b) Candidate can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course provided he has passed 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G. Shipping (This will not be applicable to MERI.) OR 
(c ) Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 1st year from the Engineering College in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical approved by AICTE with minimum 60% average marks. OR
(d ) Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma Course in Mechanical / Marine / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course. OR 
(e) Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma Course, in addition to the three years regular Diploma Course in Mechanical/ Electrical /Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in following categories, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course:- Electrical Engineering Stream:- Electrical Power System Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream : Digital Electronics / Electronics and Communications/ Electronics & Telecommunication / Industrial electronics / Electronics / Electronics Production & Maintenance / Instrumentation /Instrumentation & Control Mechanical Engineering Stream : Automobile /Machine Tools and Maintenance /Plant Engineering / Production Technology /Production Engineering /Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making [Note : The candidates in this category are not eligible for exemption in the examination of Applied Mechanics and Heat Engine subject of Part ‘A’ MEO Class IV and Class II of Certificate of Competency Examinations.] OR 
(f) A candidate can join 2nd year of 4 Year’s Marine Engineering Degree course who have passed 4 years Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% aggregate marks in the last year of diploma course AND The candidates should have obtained with minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std or in the Degree / Diploma course conducted by recognized Board or University. NOTE: Part Time or Distance Learning or Correspondence Course or any combination of these will not be considered.

8 Admission for Lateral Entry (Directly to join 2nd Year of Marine Engineering Course) Below 25 years at the time of commencement of the course (SC/ST30 years) A pass in Plus-two (12th Standard) or its equivalent, with minimum 60% aggregate in Maths , Physics and Chemistry group and at least 50% marks in English.
Candidates can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma Course, in addition to the three years regular Diploma Course in Mechanical/ Electrical /Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in following categories, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course.

9 B.E Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering 4 years or 8 semesters Below 25 years at the time of commencement of the course A pass in Plus-Two ( 12 th Standard ) or its equivalent, with minimum 50% Marks for OC and 45% Marks for others aggregate in Maths, Physics and Chemistry group from any recognized board. Note:- Admission test / Personal interview / JEE students will be given preference. 11 Graduate Marine Engineer (G.M.E.) 1 Year 28 years (SC/ST 30 years) (a) Graduation in BE (Mechanical) Engineering / Naval Architecture with minimum marks of 50% in final year and with minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam. OR
(b) The candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering after attending a course of 4 years duration from an UGC recognized university and or approved by AICTE, with a minimum marks of 50% in the final year, and a minimum 50% marks in English language at the 10th or 12th standard or in degree examination. These candidates will not get full exemption from MEO Class IV and MEO Class II Certificate of Competency Exam but require to appear and pass the “Heat Engines” written paper of MEO Class IV Part ‘A’ COC Exam and “Thermodynamics & Heat Transmission” written paper of MEO Class II Part ‘A’ COC Exam.

12 Marine Engineering course for diploma holders 2 Year 28 years (SC/ST 30 years) (a) Pass Diploma in Mechanical /Marine/ Naval Architecture / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics Engineering with minimum marks of 50% in final year and with minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th, 12th std or Diploma exam. (b) Passed Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering with minimum marks of 50% in final year (4 year course) and with minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th, 12th std or Diploma exam Boys and Girls can apply Written/Personal interview/Medical Examination Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight 6/6 in better eye, 6/9 in other eye and with no colour blindness On successful completion of this training the trainees can join as an ENGINE TRAINEE CADET ON BOARD a ship (Indian / Foreign Shipping Companies). 13 Electro Technical Officer (E.T.O.) 4 Months 35 years (i) Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with minimum 50 % marks in English Language at 10th of 12the standard exam. 
(ii) Passed three years’ Diploma with 60% marks or four year’s Degree including lateral entry, with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent.
(iii) The diploma /degree courses must have been recognized by any State or Central Government or the AICTE.
(iv) Candidates who were admitted in Diploma course on the basis of Matriculation only and went to complete their B.E./ B. Tech degree course as a lateral entry in the 2nd year of the degree on the basis of Diploma, and has secured the degree in the disciplines mentioned at (II) of the above, are also permitted to be admitted in the ETO course
